Dear parent/carer,
We know what a difficult time this is for families and so we are hoping to help. As you may know, Our Voice is a forum for parents and carers of children and young people with a disability or special educational needs. We are pleased to have won some funding for a special project which will help pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to access remote learning and also to support their parents/guardians access information and a support network of other parents/guardians to reduce their potential sense of isolation. Given the current climate of the Tier 4 lockdown and impact on pupils, we plan to use this funding to purchase some laptops to give to individual students at secondary school or Further Education College students who: • live in the London Borough of Enfield • and are either on the SEND Support Register or have an EHCP • and do not have their own home computer to use for remote learning (even if they are borrowing one from school or are using a mobile phone or tablet) Additionally, if your family does not currently have internet access available, we may be able to use some of the funding to provide internet access for you and your child for the remainder of the academic year. We have a strictly limited number of laptops available, and these will be allocated according to our criteria, on a first-come-first served basis. You are invited to apply for a laptop if you meet the criteria and believe that it would help your child to access online learning. Please note that this invitation is unique to you, so please do not share this information or the survey link with anyone else. In return for receiving the laptop (and internet access where appropriate) we are asking families to commit to: • joining the Our Voice mailing list to receive our regular updates. Provided that you remain on our mailing list for a minimum of 3 years, the laptop will be yours to keep permanently. The laptop will remain the property of Our Voice during that period, and should you choose to opt out of our mailing list before the end of the 3-year period, you will need to return the laptop to us. • making contact with us on a monthly basis until July of this year e.g. by joining one of our virtual events for parents (e.g. coffee mornings, videoconferences or webinars) or completing one of our short surveys.
