Learning for Life Campus – April Stories

Wright & Lanthaler Class have had a special visitor at Cyprus Road! #EasterBunny #Easter #learningforlife

Joyce Meyer once said, ‘Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting.’ No intern epitomises that more than Cyrus. Cyrus has a very particular skill set, which has been entirely self-taught. When Cyrus joined the supported internship, we knew that for a young man with so much potential, the right placement had to be found. The wait began…..Despite a brief opportunity at a local Enfield company that was locked down by Covid, the wait continued…..Then, PLMR, a major PR and public affair company joined the supported internship and Cyrus found the glove that fit. From day one, Cyrus demonstrated his knowledge of coding and relevant platforms. In PLMR’s own words Cyrus is working on ‘flagship projects,’ this is from a company that have government contracts. Cyrus has been tasked with creating a carbon calculator for Gumtree. He has had to create it from scratch, taking into account the aesthetics, company brand, useability, and carbon emission outputs from locations around the United Kingdom. Cyrus has done this with his usual methodical approach, feeding back in team meetings and conducting his own research. PLMR have shown a huge amount of trust to give someone who has only been with the company a matter of weeks and cements the internship’s ideal that diversifying your workplace with people with SEN will always payoff.  Cyrus has himself learnt a great deal himself just from being part of an innovative team, and is already looking at the next big project.

The Head of Digital at PLMR said “Cyrus is a total star – the team love him and he’s already produced some phenomenal work. Kris (the Job Coach) has been an excellent help and guide to him (and me!) on the process – it’s been a joy all the way through!”
