Learning for Life Campus Stories

Supported Internship Programme Successes

Despite the more challenging circumstances this year, interns on our Supported Internship Programme continue to thrive at work, with many already securing jobs with a range of employers.  We are very thankful for the range of inclusive employers we’ve been able to continue to work with including Enfield Council, Nando’s, Sainsbury’s and Yodel (to name just a few!)  We are pleased to have also begun a new partnership with the Co-operative this year.  Such partnerships are crucial and could not be developed without all the hard work that goes on in the background to secure quality work placements for the programme.  Our Job Coaches have supported interns to adapt to the changes brought about by more Covid-secure workplaces and travel trainers have helped to ensure they are able to get to work safely and confidently.  We feel very proud of all of our interns and the whole SIP team – well done everyone – by working together we can achieve great things in our local community!

Edible garden project

This term Fury class have begun a new work experience project to create a range of edible gardens.  Working in partnership with classes from across Meridian, Haselbury and Learning for Life campuses they are growing produce that can used by our catering staff to make nutritious and delicious school meals.  Not only are our students able to learn about the science behind growing fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs but they’ll also gain valuable insight into sustainability, value for money and healthy eating.  We are extremely thankful to Enfield Schools Traded Services for providing us with a grant to kickstart this project as well as Sonny the Snail Sensory Garden for allowing us to grow our produce in their community garden.

Adams Class have done a great job supporting our upcycling project @buildingbloqs  with L4L charity #workexperience #enfield #careers #workskills

Another day another work experience opportunity. Fury Class have been learning how to bake shortbread with the help of a professional baker. This Friday’s treats went down nicely with a hot drink from our coffee cart #workskills #Enfield #learning4life

We’re so proud of our interns who’ve secured paid employment this term. A huge thanks to @coopuk @CoopColleagues for all the fantastic support throughout. We look forward to continuing to work with you to make the workplace more inclusive for under-represented groups #SENDcareers
