Spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development
SMSC development helps to improve children’s life chances, raise their aspirations, connect them with their communities and develop their values.
Our SMSC curriculum equips learners with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate daily life.

- Respect different faiths, feelings and values

How we implement it:
- Through the RE and PSHE curriculum
- Visiting local places of worship
- Taking part in assemblies and awareness days
- Celebrating religious events
- Taking part in charity fundraising days

What we intend for learners to cover:
- Recognise ‘right’ and ‘wrong’
- Respect the law and make good choices
- Understand consequences
- Investigate moral and ethical issues
- Appreciate the viewpoints of others

- Through the PSHE curriculum
- Taking part in the campus/school student council
- Taking part in assemblies and awareness days
- Taking part in Enfield Youth Parliament
- Taking part in community volunteering

- Taking up leadership roles (e.g. playtime sports leaders)

social development
What we intend for learners to cover:
- Develop a range of social skills
- Get involved in the local community
- Appreciate different viewpoints
- Volunteer, take part and cooperate
- Know how to resolve conflict
- Know and uphold the fundamental British values
How we implement it:
- Communication skills are developed across the curriculum
- Teamwork is developed through PE and sports
- And social skills through the Life & Work curriculum
- Taking part in clubs and extracurricular activities
- Getting involved in social events and Freshers Week
- Taking part in assemblies and charity days
- Through travel training and work experience

What we intend for learners to cover:
- Appreciate cultural influences
- Understand the role of the British Parliament
- Take part in cultural activities (e.g. sports, the arts)

- Through the RE, PSHE, KOW and Creativity curriculum
- Engaging with the local community through Life & Work
- Visiting local places, art exhibitions and the theatre

- Through arts-focused Drop Days (pupils off timetable)
