Students are introduced to life and work skills from the early years and develop them throughout the key stages.
Our Personal Development curriculum and Passport to Independence approach ensures learners have ample opportunity to practice key life and work skills as they journey through West Lea.
And our careers roadmap, which is brought to life both within and outside lessons, provides many opportunities for students to explore, vision and plan for their future beyond the school gates.
Our unique approach to building independence, life and work skills is what we call, learning for life.
Our most deeply held value, learning for life is like the words that run through a stick of seaside rock. It’s what makes us so special and it features everywhere: in our curriculum, and in extracurricular activities, clubs, trips and residentials.
As you’d expect from a school which believes in a world where everyone can flourish, we take a creative approach to careers planning to ensure every student develops transferable skills in preparation for adulthood and so they can work, play, travel, volunteer and take part in their local community.
Whether they’re role playing shops in the early years, learning to travel independently, gaining work experience, or dipping their toes into the workplace with a Supported Internship, you can count on us to be with your child every step of the way.
